Eyewitness said the several pupils were knocked down while trying to cross the road. They were reportedly on their way to a school located within the area.
However, five of them died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
The remaining victims were rushed to the hospital by policemen present at the scene of the incident.
Following the incident, a fracas erupted among some residents of that area; this led to sporadic shooting by the security personnel to disperse the raging residents.
