The First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Monday in Abuja urged Nigerian women to re-dedicate themselves to prayer and to their homes during the Christmas season.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Ayotunde Adesugba, a Director of Information in the Presidency.
Jonathan tasked all women to renew their commitment to cherish family values of dedication, unity, love, loyalty, and uprightness.
The wife of the president noted that “stable, peaceful homes promote peaceful communities as well as a peaceful nation, with the prospects of an even brighter future for all.
“This call is in consonance with the spirit of Christmas which represents, renewal, peace and hope.
“Christmas is a time of joy, merriment and the exchange of gifts among family and friends.
“We must however not forget to spare a thought for orphans and the less privileged in our society”, the statement read in part.
The First Lady urged women to use the season to become prayer amazons by dedicating prayers to their families and the nation.
“We must also remember Nigerian leaders in our prayers, so that the Almighty can endow them with the Wisdom of Solomon and the patience of Job in the Bible.
“By doing this, peace and unity in our nation is assured”. (NAN)
