Kanye And Sway Talk Without Boundaries.

Kanye West has always been a bit out there. Always thinking very high of himself, and not caring for some award shows, “Imma let you finish”. It’s like he misses the part of his brain that tells you not to say something, because this man literally has no filter up there.
So it should be no surprise that West went a bit nuts in an interview with the Sway in the Morning crew on Sirius XM.

Among calling himself this generation’s Michael Jackson, he references his struggles in the fashion industry which seems to be the main thing he came to talk about on the show. Sway Colloway was attempting to ask West about his “The Yeezus Tour”, but it seemed Kanye had other plans and went off on possibly the most crazy tangent I have ever heard from him. It seemed a bit innocent originally, but then he started to get very hot and argued with Sway to a point where a punch would fly and it would not have shocked anyone.

Here is a bit from the interview, where they lead into the fashion discussion.

“It’s very difficult to get people in high-end fashion to work with people who are considered to be musicians,” West claimed. “If someone was a fashion designer and came to Dr. Dre, would Dr. Dre produce for them?”

You know, because that makes sense of course. He also misses the part where not everyone is cut out for the fashion industry just like how everyone isn’t cut out for the music business. Many fashion designers know their gift and stick to it, but a lot of entertainment celebs jump into the fashion world instead of doing what they are famous for.
West spoke about frustrations with Nike, who allowed him to create his “Yeezy” shoes. But West claims they did not allow him to push more limits on his design.

West said, “Yeah, they let me design. It’s like, yeah, they did me a favor by letting me design, but they let other people design. They let Pharrell design. They let Eminem design. I just designed the Yeezy’s. I turned up what they didn’t think I could turn up that far. And they tried to hold it back.

So what’s the big deal? They let you design a shoe, like you wanted. And why would they hold back a design if it would make more money? This seems to be the part of Kanye that only Kanye gets. A shoe company like Nike wants more and more cash.

What business would not? If the company felt his ideas for something would not work, they as shoe pros would not allow it for their company. They should know more than a guy like Kanye who is JUST getting his feet wet into the fashion business.

Kanye claimed his earlier designs with the Yeezy 1 and 2 were revolutionary and made as much impact as the Air Jordan shoes that Nike is famous for.
In possibly his most moronic moment of the interview, he claimed he and his manager made the Air Jordan shoes popular the last few years.

He said, “People hadn’t felt that feeling since the Jordans. And by the way, the Jordan’s are only popular at this point because of two people: me and Don C.” He claimed that Nike only re-released some older models of the shoes because he and Don C. were spotted wearing the older models.

I guess West completely ignores the fact that several NBA players as well as college basketball stars wear them, and the fact Nike knew older models were good and could sell if promoted well enough. Or the fact that Michael Jordan made them massive to begin with and was possibly the man that led the charge for NBA players to get a shoe line.

People from all over the world know of Air Jordans. In fact, I’m sure more people know of that type of shoe than know Kanye West. Oh but don’t let West hear that, he might blow a gasket.
Oh, but if you thought this was good…Kanye was only getting started.

West said that Nike should stop putting money into its global-education initiatives, because they would be better off partnering up with DONDA. It’s a company West is attempting to turn into a “trillion-dollar” masterpiece. Issue is, if it’s as interesting as his fashion line it probably won’t go very far. Here is what he had to say, or the most hilarious part of it:

“I am standing up and telling you I am (Andy)Warhol. I am the number one most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh.”
Most impactful may be a stretch. Lady GaGa alone has made more noise than Kanye. Add in One Direction, Justin Timberlake, numerous singing reality show contestants, etc. and you find many who have done more and become far more popular with the major public instead of a certain crowd.

What Kanye misses in his insane rants is this. When you come off crazy, no one is going to want to invest in you or what you want to do. If you throw your hat in the ring and do all you can with what you have and prove with legit materials that you have what it takes to get things done, people will take notice.

But random ideas, some off the wall that cannot happen or do not need to, then no one would want to get involved. What tech, fashion, sports, or intelligence company would get involved with West, a guy who cannot even make himself look good? Not many. Some throw him a bone because they know his name might sell a few things. But does that mean he has a great eye for everything he has an interest in? Again, probably not.  I like music, but I’m not jumping into the recording both tomorrow.

Check out the full interview with Sway below. It gets good around the 14:00 mark. Be warned however, foul language is involved. So it might be a bit NSFW.
