It was learnt that the Speaker, who is a staunch supporter of the acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, in the ongoing political battle for the control of Taraba State, took ill last Thursday and was rushed to hospital where he died today.
Confirming the development, Kefas Sule, spokesperson for ag. Gov. Umar said, “He died this morning, after just a brief illness”.
He, however, failed to provide further details, saying the state government was still awaiting reports from the Speakers’ doctors before making any further pronouncements.
Mr. Haruna Tsokwa is survived by a wife and four children.
