IN THE EYES OF A CHILD
I SEE A PLEA;
A PLEA FOR PEACE,
A PLEA FOR LOVE.
IN THE EYES OF A CHILD
I SEE THE PAIN, THE STAIN;
THE PAIN OF SURVIVAL,
THE STAIN OF THE STRUGGLES.
IN THE EYES OF A CHILD
I SEE THE THRUST;
A TRUST IN THE SYSTEM,
A THRUST INTO DISMAY.
IN THE EYES OF A CHILD
I SEE THE DISAPPOINTMENT;
INDEED, I SEE THE HEARTBREAK.
THE TRUST FOR PEACE,
BURIED WITH THE TOOLS OF WAR.
THE TRUST FOR LOVE,
STRANGLED WITH THOUGHTS OF HATE.
THE REASON FOR SMILES,
CARTED AWAY IN DESIGNER BRIEFCASES.
IN THE EYES OF A CHILD
I SEE HIS WOUNDS; HIS WORLD.
IN THE EYES OF A CHILD
I HEAR A PLEA,
A SILENT PLEA FOR CHANGE.
IN THE EYES OF A CHILD
I STILL SEE HOPE,
HOPE FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW.
